We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Legal Cashier to lead our finance department within a prestigious legal firm based in Canterbury. This pivotal role involves managing a team of two legal cashiers and overseeing the daily financial operations of the firm.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Supervise and manage the daily activities of the finance department, ensuring compliance with the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules.
• Lead, mentor, and support a team of two legal cashiers, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
• Oversee the processing of financial transactions including client billing, receipts, and payments.
• Maintain accurate financial records and prepare reports for senior management.
• Implement and monitor financial controls and systems to prevent errors and discrepancies.
• Liaise with external auditors, providing necessary information and documentation for audits.
• Manage the firm’s banking operations, including bank reconciliations and trust accounts.
• Ensure timely completion of month-end and year-end close processes.
• Provide guidance and advice on financial matters to partners and fee earners.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a legal cashier (6 years+), with a strong understanding of the legal sector’s financial requirements.
• Experience in managing or supervising a team within a finance department.
• Excellent knowledge of the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules.
• Strong organisational and leadership skills.
• Proficient in legal accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel.
• AAT, ILFM or equivalent qualification is highly desirable.
• Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
