Imperial Recruitment Group are working in partnership with NCG who are looking to appoint a HE Teaching & Excellence Leader
Duties:
Develop and implement an operational plan for the monitoring, development and improvement of teaching, learning and assessment across the group as well as partnership institutions which supports the strategic objectives of NCG.
Lead and coordinate the delivery of the Learning, Teaching and Student Experience strategy working in partnership with students and the wider academic community
Develop and embed a strategic approach to inclusive teaching and learning approaches across group that actively address inequality and support social justice, in conjunction with the access and participation plan
Co-ordinate and have operational responsibly for future Teaching Excellence and Student Outcome Framework requirements
Offer expert advice on academic practice, curricular enhancement and associated policy developments in Higher Education, in support of strategic objectives from our HE TLA and HE strategy
Shape the strategy for the university’s academic CPD offer (including Advance HE UKPSF)
Manage a culture of continuous improvement and innovation that delivers agreed quality standards across the curriculum and student experience.
Develop strategies for learning and teaching that provides high success and efficiencies.
Support a model of stakeholder relationship management that builds the reputation of the area.
Oversee the strategic and operational approaches to professional development across the group and with our partnership provision, ensuring key AfI’s are being developed monitored and evaluated.
Liaise, and engage effectively with local, regional and national bodies, and professional networks to ensure currency in Higher Education policy and pedagogical innovation and promote the profile of the University’s teaching and learning nationally and internationally.
Identify opportunities for colleagues to develop their pedagogic research/scholarship and, in coordination with others, maximise opportunities to drive development of externally funded, cutting-edge, learning and teaching research projects.
Be an effective operator that communicates well and that supports a culture of equality, shared values, innovation and effective team working through personal commitment to NCG values and behaviours.
Build relationships with new stakeholders and commercial clients including identifying opportunities and seek to win new business.
Develop and deliver the effective operation of all financial planning, and other management controls needed to ensure the efficient utilisation of the physical and financial resources.
Manage the performance review process for teaching and support staff and ensuring that all staff have a relevant CPD plan
Identify and carry out audits, monitor individual performance targets and support colleagues in identification of excellence and addressing under-performance as needed.
Lead and manage the Self-Assessment and Quality Improvement Plan processes around Teaching, Learning and Assessment so that the quality of Teaching, Learning and Assessment continuously improves.
Take responsibility for the quality and effectiveness of teaching and learning strategies and address areas of weakness.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and other relevant directors and managers to ensure the staff development and training necessary for the implementation of key strategic objectives takes place and promotes active involvement across group as well as our partnership provision
Maintain strong working links with external stakeholders, awarding bodies, higher education institutions, employers and professional organisations as required by the Director of School.
Lead and manage key projects as required by the Director.
Research, develop and successfully deliver national projects from key partners such as the AoC, OfS and DfE
Requirements:
Essential
Qualified to degree level
Experience of Managing in a Higher Education institution
Broad portfolio of professional and personal development.
Teaching Qualification (Certificate of Education or PGCE)
A record of leadership and management including the successful implementation, evaluation, and communication of the outcomes of large complex strategic learning and teaching enhancement initiatives in HE
Experience of innovative approaches to professional development
Experience of working to, and meeting targets.
Experience of curriculum management within a College/Higher Education institution
A comprehensive knowledge and practical experience of the development of inclusive teaching excellence in an HE setting
Experience of teaching, student, and course support.
Experience of curriculum design and development
Experience of participation in teaching, learning and assessment projects and/or events, both internal and external
Experience of successfully leading and managing a team of people
Desirable
Postgraduate Management qualification
Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (or equivalent)
An expert understanding emergent Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework (TEF) and experience of supporting staff to produce high quality TEF submissions
A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of policy and wider sector-influences relevant to inclusive learning, teaching and assessment, and the student experience
Current or recent experience of empowering academic colleagues to deliver excellence in teaching and research and experience of successfully leading teams and managing team resources
