Do you have excellent trade compliance experience paired with strong QHSE? Have you worked within the aviation/air freight industry?

I am recruiting for a Group Head of Trade Compliance & QHSE to join a thriving logistics company within the West Drayton area. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and leading the Trade Compliance and QHSE strategy across the Group’s global operations, and have oversight for the Group’s trade compliance obligations. You will ensure best practice quality, health, safety, environmental and trade compliance and drive performance through effective change management. 

Main duties: 

  • Ensure that internal/external annual audit programmes are effective and compliant, advising employees on how to minimise/avoid risks and hazards in the workplace
  • Prepare and present monthly progress/activity reports
  • Ensure that annual licensing requirements and compliance-related training/certifications at all sites is completed
  • Managing product use, and end user/final destination confirmations
  • Responsibility and oversight for ISO accreditation across the Group, including but not limited to ISO9001 / 9120, ISO14001 and ASA100
  • Measure customer service levels and feedback
  • Oversight of regulatory filings to government bodies (i.e. HMRC, Census Bureau, AES etc)
  • Establish and monitor relevant KIP's, resulting in improvement
  • Minimise the impact on sustainability of all office and transportation activities
  • Champion a shared safety, compliance and sustainability vision and culture for all stakeholders, encouraging active participation in continuous improvement, creating positive outcomes and initiatives.
  • Lead and inspire direct reports through setting clear objectives, directly linked to the business strategy
  • Guiding your team to achieve defined targets and performance standards

Requirements: 

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role specialising in QHSE and trade compliance (ideally within the logistics/air freight industry)
  • Good knowledge of Industry Standards – ISO 9001 / 9120 etc
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and relationship building skills 
  • Strong technical skills, including AEO, Union Customs code, Customs IT systems, guarantees, special projects.
  • Experience of leading change management in global environments and implementing best in class outcomes
  • Diploma level NEBOSH, H&S and Environmental qualification or equivalent (ideal)
  • Proven negotiation experience at a senior commercial level
  • Excellent IT skills (MS Office, presentations, data reporting and analysis)

  • Salary of £75,000 - £85,000 DOE
  • 20 days holiday + bank holidays (increases by 1 day per year after 2 years, capped at 25 days)
