I am excited to be recruiting a Group Financial Controller role for a large multi-site FMCG/ retail business as they enter their next stage of growth. Based in Reading this newly created role will report to the Group Finance Director and oversee the Group’s financial reporting, accounting processes and controls and budgeting process (4 direct reports with circa 60 indirect reports). This role will also be a pivotal role in driving finance transformation and standardisation across the business. Our client has 3000+ sites around the UK and Europe and circa £1.4Bn turnover currently with plans to grow organically and through acquisitions to £2Bn over the coming years.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee UK&I Controller, France accounting, Denmark accounting to ensure timely and accurate monthly management reporting
  • Ensuring group accounting policies are fully documented and that they are adopted (or adapted appropriately) by all subsidiaries.
  • Responsibility for Group’s internal and external reporting to management, owners, lenders and ratings agencies.
  • Responsibility for Group’s budgeting process
  • Responsibility for timely audit of group results and management of the audit relationship with PWC across Europe.
  • Responsibility for driving finance transformation and standardisation across territories/companies implementing best practice in consultation with our auditors and advisors.
  • Provide fresh eyes, views and challenge on current controls in place as well as critically looking at finance team capabilities and structure of the team


A salary of £130,000-£150,000 DOE plus £7,500 car allowance, bonus and benefits
