Proud to be a Green Energy company we are growing our team and looking to appoint a Grid Connections Engineer. Working under the direction of the Senior Connections Manager you will play a pivotal role in supporting the grid connection process for our rapidly expanding portfolio of renewable energy projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be fully engaged in all aspects of renewables project development. With offices in both London and Edinburgh, this role can be based in either location.

Your responsibilities will include securing grid connection agreements for utility-scale solar, wind, or storage projects. This involves conducting feasibility studies for connection requests and collaborating with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and Transmission Operators (TOs) to identify the optimal connection option. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing the contestable connection processes to ensure smooth and efficient grid integration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform grid connection studies for solar, wind, BESS or Hybrid projects
  • Review/design technical drawings for submission
  • Submit G99 applications to the DNO
  • Review and assess received Connection Offers
  • Collaborate and liaise with ICPs, IDNOs and EPCs
  • Organise and keep records of updates of ongoing and potential projects
  • Completing grid studies
  • Working with DNOs, TSOs and internal teams to progress the company's projects

Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience of Power System analysis tools, both creating modelling data sets for the tool and undertaking detailed analyst
  • An engineering degree in a relevant field: Power Systems Engineering/ Electrical Engineering
  • Previous engineering experience gained within the electricity industry
  • Knowledge and experience with HV and EHV grid connections, standards, regulations, and requirements
  • Experience of working in a DNO, IDNO or ICP background
  • Experience in solar power, battery or windfarm generation
  • Experience in Distribution Network Operator (DNO) and Transmission System Operator (TSO) connections
  • Experience of Power System analysis tools, both creating modelling data sets for the tool and undertaking detailed analysis
