Graduate Engineer
Our client is a leading supplier of confocal imaging solutions to the life sciences community worldwide. Due to company expansion we are looking to recruit a Graduate Engineer.
Hours of work would be 9.00am - 5.30pm, Monday - Friday.
Short Job Description
The successful candidate will join a small group of scientists and engineers and will become a key member of the team. Their individual responsibilities will include the assembly, alignment, qualification and installation of the company’s confocal imaging systems and to aid in system integration and system development.
Main Duties of the Role
· Follow production procedures to assemble imaging systems
· Follow production procedures to test imaging systems
· Follow production procedures to qualify imaging systems
· Feedback to engineering on improvements to electrical, electronic, mechanical or optical design to minimize production time for all products.
· Update procedures where necessary to improve production time
· Work with other engineers on R&D projects for new system development
· Presenting ideas for system improvements, including cost proposals
· Manage scheduling of production builds
· Preparation and maintenance of production documentation
· Provide both remote and on-site support for existing customers
· Customer applications development
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Applicants applying must be Educated to Degree Level 2:1 or higher in any of the following disciplines:
· Physics
· Optical Engineering
· Electrical, Electronic Engineering
With the following attributes:
· Ability to learn quickly
· Good written and verbal communication skills
· Excellent time management skills and the ability to work under pressure
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience
· Experience in optical alignment
· Experience in optical and opto-mechanical instrumentation
· Ability to utilise in a practical manner all the basic optical components such as lenses, filters, beam splitters etc.
· Experience in and be familiar with lasers and detectors and have the ability to align, troubleshoot and fault find complex optical systems
· Experience in microscopy and especially laser scanning microscopy
· Experience in electronics circuit setup and testing
· Experience in surface mount soldering
· Experience in using Solid works
· Experience in using Zeemax
