  • Are you an experienced Medical Notes / Records Summariser / equivalent?
  • Do you have experience carrying out Medical Note Summarising duties within a GP Surgery/Medical Practice or similar?
  • Can you summarise and read relevant code information from patient clinical records via a practice clinical record management system, preferably SystmOne?
  • Do you have experience culling and sorting patient records and letters in preparation for summarising, whilst reviewing medical records and producing an accurate summary of patient’s medical history?

We are currently supporting a long term healthcare client based in Hammersmith, West London with the recruitment of a GP Medical Notes Summariser. Our client's practice policy needs to have 90% of their records summarised at all times, therefore experience of and the ability to summarise medical records to a great standard is essential.

Pay Rates: £12.82 - £13.00 paye inclusive of holiday pay, depending on skill and experience

Working Days and Hours: Monday to Friday

Working hours will need to be agreed with our client, however possible hours of work could be:

  • 8am to 4pm
  • 9am to 5pm
  • 10am to 6pm

Hybrid Working: No always on client site

System knowledge: Systm One experience would be preferred for this role

Smart Card: Would be preferable, not essential

Duties

As GP Medical Note Summariser, you will summarise all records received at the surgery whether on paper or electronically, according to the practice protocol.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Carrying out medical records summarising and clinical data entry
  • Summarising both paper and electronic medical records according to the practice protocol.
  • Culling and sorting patient records and letters in preparation for summarising
  • Reviewing medical records and producing an accurate summary of the patient’s medical history
  • Monitor progress of notes summarising against practice targets
  • Coding letters and other information received from care providers using the agreed practice protocols
  • Filing and retrieving paperwork
  • Enter clinical data from letters and other information received from care providers, according to the practice protocol and as specified by the clinical team.
  • Tidy up existing patient computer-held record in accordance with the practice protocol
  • Identify, together with the practice manager, any personal training needs and be prepared to undertake any relevant training courses where necessary
  • Work continually to build on our clients success and improve the services offered by the practice, by constantly examining your own work, and that of the practice, and identifying areas that need improvement.
  • Work flexibly according to the needs of the practice.
  • Carry out any other supportive duties, appropriate to the post, as required by your manager or the Practice Manager or Partners

Competencies:

  • Experience of summarising medical records / notes to a good standard
  • Medical Terminology understanding
  • Ability to use Practice clinical records management system, and be able to learn new software easily (SystmOne)
  • Accuracy and efficiency in all areas of work
  • Computer literate - Sound knowledge MS Office applications
  • Awareness of data security processes
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively
  • Flexible approach
  • Be able to work well independently and within a team
  • High attention to detail and good levels of accuracy

Please Note: This position will be subject to full candidate screening, which will include employment history, right to work and a DBS check being undertaken. Completion of mandatory online training modules may also be required, to be able to successfully begin working in this role, if employment is offered.
