We have a fantastic opportunity for a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Data Officer, with nature in their heart, to be part of a strategic programme, working with our properties nationally to develop large-scale land management and project plans, responding to the nature and climate crises.
The GIS Data and Consultancy Team lead on creating organisational value from data; ensuring our spatial data is trusted, understood, well governed and that we maximise the value from it to deliver our strategy through data enabled decision making.
Geographical Information (GI) is central to understanding where we are now, where we want to get to, and how to get there. Multiple internal and external stakeholders are being engaged to shape how this might happen.
We are currently undertaking our pay review process and it is likely that this salary will be increased from 1st April 2024.

Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times. You will be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview. The role will also involve travel to properties or regional hubs.
What you'll be doing You’ll be line managed by a GIS Consultant, and as part of a two-person GIS project team you’ll be dedicated to supporting delivery of the programme’s ambitions.
You’ll provide an expert spatial data management service within the ArcGIS environment for the benefit of technical and non-technical colleagues in our Property, Regional Consultancy and Whole Trust teams.
You’ll be working with stakeholders to produce engaging cartographical outputs and tools that support the National Trust’s accelerated response to the challenges that the natural environment is experiencing.

We’d love to hear from you if you have/are:
•Core knowledge and skills in environmental spatial data management techniques. You'll have extensive experience managing and interpreting species, habitat, and environmental planning datasets. •Broad GIS skills base. You'll have excellent practical knowledge and experience of using ArcGIS Pro for managing spatial data within ESRI’s suite of products. •Cartographical skills. Your cartographic skills will be required to produce mapping outputs to support decision making within the organisation and with partner organisations. •A self-starter, at ease working independently and as part of a team. Demonstrable project experience of using your own initiative to problem solve. •Communication. You'll need to use your experience to communicate in an informed way with both internal and external stakeholders from countryside management and conservation-focussed teams, specialist, and non-specialist staff to interpret their needs to provide the most appropriate level of support.
