Geologist / Engineering Geologist
Akton are recruiting on behalf of a client who is looking for a Geologist / Engineering Geologist to join their team in Burton-on-Trent.
Responsibilities
- Conducting walkover surveys for inclusion in Phase I and Phase II reports.
- Undertaking and managing intrusive ground investigations using a variety of investigative techniques including trial pitting, window sampling, cable percussive & rotary borehole drilling.
- Logging of soil and rock to an appropriate standard.
- Supervising earthworks, in-situ testing and contaminated land remediation projects.
- Collection of field data including soil, water & gas samples for chemical & geotechnical analysis.
- Preparation of appropriate Health & Safety documentation.
Requirements
- Minimum qualification of a degree in one of the Earth Sciences.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant fieldwork experience including the logging of soil & rock to current British Standards,
- Willingness to work outdoors, away from home & occasionally unsociable hours.
- Excellent written & verbal English language communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal / team working skills.
- Full UK Driving License essential (Category B manual gears).
- The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate their right to work in the UK
