Generalist Lecturer - HMP Channings Wood

Weston College is the regional provider for the Prison Education Framework (PEF) across the South West of England and is now seeking to recruit an outstanding and highly motivated Generalist Lecturer to Deliver a high quality curriculum at HMP Channings Wood.

Day to day duties

• Organisational and Administrative work

• Preparation, assessment and marking.
  
  
• Developing and maintaining a full course file including comprehensive scheme of learning and lesson planning.
  
  
• Developing and completing ILPs and contextual statements to monitor individual learner progress.

Required skills and qualifications

• Possess, or be willing to work towards, a recognised Teaching Qualification within the first two years of service.
  
  
• A Degree, or professional qualification, which is appropriate to the work.
  
  
• Knowledge and experience of current teaching and learning strategies.
  
  
• Excellent computer literacy skills including an up to date knowledge of Microsoft Office.

About HMP Channings Wood

Located in Devon, HMP Channings Wood is an acclaimed Category C men's prison operated by His Majesty's Prison Service. The facility, focused on security and safeguarding, includes a main site and a vulnerable prisoner’s unit. It possesses four industrial workshops, vocational training courses, educational activities, and comprehensive offending behaviour programs. At HMP Channings Wood, individuals are equipped with functional skills such as English, mathematics, IT and Essential Digital Skills, and vocational skills such as painting and decorating, barbering and construction; skills and knowledge that can help people to make a successful transition back into society.
