We are currently searching for a General Manager to join a newly formed Ed Tech business as they aim to tackle Arabic literacy rates across the region. The company will be harnessing cutting edge technology to position itself as a thought leader in Arabic assessment and learning.

The General Manager will drive the company's operations, with a focus on commercial and financial success. The crux of the role is to ensure that they become the go-to partner for Ministries of Education and publishers/content creators, with it becoming the de-facto universal scale for the Arabic language. This will be driven by the General Manager's ability to position the company as a leader in the Arabic assessment space, build key relationships with government stakeholders, and generate revenues from long-term partnerships in the Arab world.

Key responsibilities - General Manager:

Hire, onboard and lead a high-performing dedicated team to fulfill the ambitions of the business plan

Secure required government partners and ensure their involvement, satisfaction and advocacy

Set up effective processes, metrics, reporting mechanisms and ways of working with the parent companies

'Land the brand' & concept: ensure the Arabic Scale and the suite of products and services provided using it are well understood and represented across the government, corporate and consumer markets within the Arabic World

Skills and experience required - General Manager:

  • Educational degree(s): Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • Technical competencies: Strong leadership, team building and stakeholder management skills
  • Business development & commercial acumen
  • Strong connections with government partners across the Arab world
  • A proven track record in strategic relationship building and account
  • 10+ years working in publishing and/or education.
  • 8+ years of commercial leadership experience, owning a P&L, delivering revenue growth and managing costs
  • 8+ years experience of building and managing multinational, multi-functional teams
  • 8+ years of managing projects, multiple stakeholders and account management
  • 8+ years of working with governments in the Middle East
