Birchgrove’s Hampton Court development will open to residents in 2025. Residents will enjoy an on-site restaurant, hairdressing & beauty salon, communal terraces, library and gardens.

The Role

A unique opportunity to join a socially conscious company as a General Manager, reporting to the Area Manager. This is one of those rare occasions to mobilise a new neighbourhood and help shape its future.

You will lead our new development in Hampton Court posed to open in autumn 2025 by managing all aspects from the off-plan sales, facilities management, F&B and wellbeing operations to the financial performance of the site, recruiting and providing leadership to the onsite team and delivering outstanding service to our residents.

The Person

The ideal applicant should have:

  • Robust background in a retirement village, healthcare, hospitality, or property/real estate sectors, coupled with extensive senior-level management experience.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing effective sales strategies.
  • Familiarity with managing food and beverage operations
  • Strong business acumen with a keen understanding of budgets and financial management.
  • Skilled in dynamic and confident management of large teams.
  • Dedicated to enriching residents' lives, with a focus on individual well-being and building a community.
  • Possesses high intellect and adaptability, adept at managing conflicting priorities.
  • An ambitious and goal orientated attitude
  • Confidence in their ability to network with influencers, the press & relevant organisations.
  • Flexibility to accommodate unconventional working hours, including weekends, to address development needs.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Facilitating the mobilization of the neighbourhood for the autumn 2025 launch by ensuring all operational aspects are prepared.
  • Collaborating with the Sales Team to devise and execute a comprehensive sales strategy, encompassing outreach, home visits, tours, reporting, and other relevant tasks.
  • Providing strategic and operational leadership for the smooth day-to-day operations post-launch, covering sales, F&B, housekeeping, maintenance, and wellbeing.
  • Overseeing ongoing operations to ensure resident satisfaction and exceed expectations in all areas, including events, activities, and customer service.
  • Ensuring compliance with all Health and Safety related policies and procedures.
  • Assisting in recruiting, training, and fostering exceptional talent among onsite staff.
  • Supporting various HR procedures as needed.
  • Managing shift schedules to maintain adequate staffing levels and ensure proper rest periods for all employees.
  • Handling financial aspects such as Birchgrove Hampton Court's P&L management, invoicing residents for rent and services, rent control, and overall budget management.
  • Engaging in research and networking with key community stakeholders (e.g., healthcare providers, local government, NGOs, local media) involved in the welfare of older adults.
  • Assisting the Sales Manager in minimising voids after residents leave and build a ready list once the building is at full occupancy.
