General Foreman / Senior General Foreman

Role overview:

My client is a World Leading Construction and Civil Engineering Company.

They are presently delivering a prestigious, circa £500m Water Infrastructure Framework which covers the counties of East Sussex and Kent.

They are seeking to employ, initially on a contract basis, a General Foreman / Senior General Foreman with a solid background in Civil Engineering projects.

As a General / Senior General Foreman you will ensure works are executed safely, within programme and to the highest quality standards.

The company are initially looking for individuals to cover two key projects, one of which is in Rochester, whilst the other is located on the beach at Whitstable.

These projects offer several months of guaranteed work, although the client is anticipating imminent news of a 12 year extension to this contract which would then assure work in the region until 2036 and beyond.

You will:

• Have day to day management of site-based construction works.
• Be responsible for effective coordination of resources working on the project.
• Ensure temporary and permanent works are delivered in accordance with the design.
• Carefully plan material and plant requirements to meet programme and financial targets.
• Assist in planning and programming with site engineering teams.
• Participate in site discipline meetings to aid effective coordination and delivery of the works.
• Ensure Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and Permit to Work systems are in place before work commences.
• Effectively liaise and communicate with site teams and subcontractors.
• Undertake site inductions with all subcontractors, including toolbox talks and 10-minute briefings.
• Ensure subcontractors deliver work to meet safety, quality and programme requirements.
• Ensure subcontractors are conforming to their own check sheets.
• Record and update site diaries.
  

About You:

Competency Requirements:

• Able to communicate effectively with site team and subcontractors.
• Experience of executing construction work in line with ITP's, quality standards and safety documentation.
• Confident in delivering safety briefings and toolbox talks.
• Able to read and interpret design drawings.
• Proven leadership capability.
• Good customer liaison skills.
• Aware of individual Health and Safety responsibilities and adheres to company health and safety policy and procedures.
  

Technical / Professional Qualifications Required:

• Relevant civil engineering experience.
• SSSTS or SMSTS.
• Relevant CSCS card (Black or Gold required)
• Fully conversant with the Microsoft suite of packages.
• TWS.
• First Aid (Desirable).
• Qualification in a relevant discipline (Desirable).
