My client is a long established, leading, Civil Engineering and Groundworks Specialist Contractor.

They can deliver a vast range of groundwork solutions which include:

  • Bulk excavation and land remediation
  • Earthworks
  • Reinforced Earth Bunds
  • Site clearance
  • Road construction to adoptable standards
  • Sewers to adoptable standards and domestic drainage
  • Pond Lining and attenuation tank construction
  • Tarmac surfacing
  • Retaining structures and tanking systems
  • Culverts
  • In-situ concrete structures
  • 278 Works
  • Block paving
  • Sheet Piling
  • Sub-structure block and brickwork
  • Block and beam flooring (including sub-contract design)
  • In situ concrete construction
  • R/C works including steel fixing and form work shuttering
  • Various foundation types including piling, ground beams, rafts and Insulslab.

Due to planned growth and an influx of work in their Southwestern Region, they are looking to appoint, on a permanent basis, a General Foreman / Assistant Works Manager to work on a major groundworks project which forms part of a major new garden city.

The project has an anticipated lifespan of at least two years and has the potential for at least a further 5 years. The company have been on site for the last 9 years.

The incoming General Foreman / Assistant Works Manager will be responsible for delivering infrastructure works for a major new housing estate. This will involve earthworks, Section 278 works, roads construction, new drainage, culvert installation, and much more.

The ideal candidate will be based within a commutable distance from the site which is located in Sherford, near Plymouth.

You will be supported by a dedicated project team which consists of a 'hands on' Director and a seasoned Works Manager.

Duties include:

  • Ordering plant, labour and materials
  • Leading toolbox talks, daily briefings and site inductions
  • Working with the Site Agent and commercial team to raise early warning notices
  • Promote the highest levels of health and safety on site
  • Liaise with stakeholders on public facing projects
  • Ensure your work force is working safely, effectively and efficiently
  • Reading drawings with the site engineer to coordinate gangs and overcome design difficulties
  • Ensure risk assessments and method statements and being adhered to
