Job Title: Locum Consultant - General Adult Psychiatry

Working Hours: Normal Working Days, 09:00 - 17:00 each weekday No On-call Required
Payment: Escalated hourly rates with perks

Description of Role: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry to join our team in the Scottish Borders. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality psychiatric services to individuals aged 18 to 69 within the designated catchment area. Responsibilities: - Take a clinical lead in providing general adult psychiatric services, both outpatient and inpatient, within the specified age range. - Conduct psychiatric and risk assessments, formulate treatment plans, and provide ongoing care in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team. - Promote a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency approach to patient care, offering consultancy support to Primary Care staff, Community Psychiatric Nurses (CPNs), and other members of the Community Mental Health Team (CMHT). - Serve as an Approved Medical Practitioner (AMP) in accordance with the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003, fulfilling required Responsible Medical Officer (RMO) duties. Requirements: - Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and inclusion on the Specialist Register for Psychiatry. - Significant experience in General Adult Psychiatry, including outpatient and inpatient settings. - Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, manage risk, and develop effective treatment plans. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team. - A commitment to delivering patient-centered care and promoting recovery-oriented practices. - Willingness to undertake required RMO duties as an AMP under Scottish mental health legislation.
