Fundraising Officer

An opportunity has arisen for a Fundraising Officer to join a leading organisation based in Newry (covering the Dungannon area).

This is a Full-Time, 9 months contract, with an immediate start.

Working hours: Monday to Friday (35 hours per week)

With a salary of £24,000 - £28,000 per annum (dependent on experience).

There will be requirements to attend fundraising events and meetings at locations throughout the businesses geographical area.

Job Role:

Working as part of a team, you will be responsible for generating annual income in line with agreed targets and budgets. This will include developing existing support relationships, identifying new opportunities and developing strategies to build greater awareness and increase income.

Essential Criteria:

  • A degree (or equivalent) plus 1 year’s relevant experience in a fundraising, marketing, event management, PR or sales environment with a preference for B2B or B2C sales rather than retail OR 2 years relevant experience in a fundraising, marketing, event management, PR or sales environment, with a preference for B2B or B2C sales rather than retail.
  • Good IT skills with the use of Microsoft Office, Photoshop or other design software.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal – with the ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • A flare for creativity, innovation and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise your workload.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative.
  • Full driving license with eligibility to drive in the UK and access to a car for work purposes (or be able to demonstrate other means of fulfilling this aspect of the role).
  • Due to the role, flexibility to work evenings and weekends with time of in lieu for extra hours worked.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure financial targets and other KPIs are achieved by delivering plans and events on schedule and in a professional and timely manner.
  • Proactively identify alternative plans to take remedial action if the achievement of targets is not on track.
  • Identify and develop innovative and creative approaches to maximise awareness, income and support on a long-term basis.
  • Analyse the performance of events and other fundraising activities for effectiveness and identify if improvements can be made.
  • Leverage technology and social media where possible to improve fundraising activities.
  • Encourage and support community fundraisers, fundraising on behalf of the business.
  • Grow the network and portfolio of community-based volunteers.
  • Facilitate and support fundraising events and activities in the community.
  • Work to assist fellow team members with their key events.
  • Work alongside the Business Development team to establish new corporate connections to maximise support and build relationships.
  • Identify groups, committees, individuals, and organisations in the area we can work with to develop and support fundraising efforts for the business.
  • Give presentations to a range of audiences using a variety of media platforms.
  • Work with the Donor Development Officer to cultivate and develop donor relations.
  • Be a proactive networker, keeping abreast of changes and new developments within the local fundraising environment.
  • Help to develop online and digital fundraising and other new initiatives which will support income generation.
  • Act in accordance with business principles regarding relationships with supporters
