Our client is a market leading global multi strategy investment manager with 10 offices across 3 continents, who manage assets of more than $200 billion.

Main function of the role

This role on the Financial Planning and Analysis team will act as a key relationship manager between Finance and other areas of business.

Assist the Head of Management Information taking the MI team to the next level in terms of delivering incisive and useful MI that drives decision making and plugs the MI team into the latest developments evolving around the business.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • 25%: Own all matters relating to the Group cost forecasting and budgeting for a number of business areas. This includes monitoring head count and staff costs and monitoring project spend vs budget
  • 20%: Maintain or enhance FP&A's brand via business partnering across the Group i.e. understand key departmental issues and pressure points along with their financial implications. Managing and running regular meetings with department heads to discuss financials and emerging hot topics
  • 20% Driving process efficiency, the quality of data and the resulting analytics
  • 15% Escalation point from business areas to FP&A and vice versa. Ensuring smooth lines of communication between UK and US teams
  • 10% Involvement in group and revenue reporting
  • 10% ad hoc work and projects

  • Providing ideas for determining the future direction of the MI team
  • Demonstrating the firms focus on appropriate behaviours including putting our clients first, treating all colleagues with respect, transparency, and strong governance
  • Adhere to the FCA's Conduct Rules, understanding that they set basic standards of good personal conduct

Experience required, in order of importance

  • Business partnering experience (necessary)
  • Financial Services or Investment management industry knowledge or experience (necessary)
  • Experienced in data analytics and business Intelligence software (desirable)
  • Budgeting and Forecasting) (desirable)
  • Qualified Accountant (ideally CIMA or ACCA) (desirable)
  • Experienced in a group environment with multiple cost centres, geographies, currencies, stakeholders and clients
  • A minimum 2:1 degree (or equivalent)
  • Project implementation

  • Confident communicator who has the gravitas to earn respect of all stakeholders including those at within the U.S offices
  • Ability to succinctly distil and message complex and/or extensive financial information to non-finance colleagues
  • Reliable and accurate, attention to detail so that stakeholders retain trust in the team's output
  • Anticipate and manage the expectations of multiple stakeholders both within Finance and in the wider business plus taking the initiative to offer / implement solutions
  • Is commercially aware
  • Advanced data analytics and spreadsheet skills
  • Ability to support projects to enhance financial systems, processes, and data quality
  • The intellectual capacity to appropriately respond when challenged by others
  • Ability to assimilate new information and requirements plus adapting to rapidly changing priorities
  • Some familiarity with FRS102, IFRS or UK GAAP
