GBR Recruitment are delighted to be working in partnership with a leading North Yorkshire based food manufacturing company, recruiting for an experienced Food Production Shift Manager to work days & nights, on a 5 over 6 working pattern (12 hour shifts 6-6, Week 1 days, Week 2 nights etc.)

You will successfully lead a team of 30-40 Food Production Operatives (supported by Team Leaders & Supervisors) to achieve daily production targets & plans, successfully meeting yield & throughput goals, whilst at the same time achieving the required end product quality levels, through strong GMP techniques, working to BRC standards.

In this key Shift Management role, you will be a professional modern day people centric Management professional, who believes strongly in mentoring, coaching & developing production teams, to be the very best they can be, cross training the teams in many areas of the operation, to build strength from within.

You will be a calm focused approachable Management professional, who leads from the "coal face" & is totally hands on operationally, as well as strategically strong too.

Your key skills will include; LEAN methodology, CI focused, Zero Waste focused (where possible), Quality focused, Customer focused delivering top level Food products OTIF to end using Retailers (the big 4+++).

Duties:

  • Promote, lead & maintain strong GMP standards across the operation.
  • Work to the highest possible Quality & Food Safety standards.
  • Achieve Shift Production Targets, Goals & KPI's.
  • Control & manage production plan, achieve desired Yield levels & throughput levels, reduce machinery downtime, manage Labour utilisation & reduce raw materials / packaging waste (Zero waste focus).
  • Promote CI, LEAN, Quality, Waste Reduction, Team work & Business Values, whilst ensuring a buoyant positive upbeat working environment.
  • Manage & control Production Data with effective Reporting.
  • Support NPD, EPD & NPI, plus product trials & machinery trials.
  • Work closely with Production Planning, Maintenance, HR, Finance, Logistics & Sales to achieve set Targets / Goals.
  • Proactively & positively mentor coach & develop the Production Team
  • Cross Train the Production Team to build strength within the department.
  • Promote Right 1st Time Approach to the Team.
  • Promote Equality, Diversity & Full inclusion for all, across the operation.
  • Deliver REAL Solutions to Problems, don't add Problems to Problems
  • Work to a Proactive & Reactive methodology.
  • Treat others like you'd want to be Treated.
  • Positively take on Challenges with a Can do attitude.

Desired Attributes:

  • It is key that you have strong professional people Management skills
  • Managed teams of 30+ (directs)
  • Shift Manager level experienced, in Food or within other Manufacturing
  • Strong Background in Food, FMCG or General Manufacturing.
  • People & Product focused.
  • Strong professional communicator (calm, collective & focused on goals).
  • Food Safety & Food Hygiene Qualifications.
  • Strong in GMP, LEAN, CI, NPD, NPI, BRC, Quality & Customer Service
  • A leader, plus a mentor.
  • Flexible with working hours, as this covers days & nights (no Sundays).
  • Lead by example.
