Great Baddow High School is a comprehensive secondary school in Chelmsford, Essex, England. 
It is a sports college with academy status and with science as a second specialism. It draws its students from primary schools in the Chelmsford area.

Overview:
We are looking for an eager candidate to join us as an apprentice. 

The purpose of the role is to provide high quality technical services for staff and students. The apprentice will work proactively and reactively to maintain reliable technical services working hands-on to support appropriate solutions. 

All technical staff will contribute to the delivery of an outstanding and robust IT Service across the school.

Opportunities to develop and participate in school wide projects, the apprentice will ensure that they deliver work that is efficient, effective, reliable, fit for purpose and can adapt to changing circumstances.

All staff are required to work flexibly and in a way that encourages a positive work environment that is solution focused and proactive for all.

Salary: £16,737 per annum.

Duties: 

  • Responding to requests for first line support either in person, telephone, email or via the electronic service desk, initial problem diagnosis, advise and escalation when a solution is not readily found 
  • Assisting staff with IT equipment in the classrooms and our venue facilities 
  • Promote adherence to ICT policies, including those relating to safeguarding, internet usage, Data Protection, Information Management, and reporting any concerns 
  • Meeting all learning commitments of the apprenticeship as directed by your line manager, the Apprenticeships Manager or the learning/training provider 

Assigned qualifications and an end point assessment must be completed. This can include presentations, portfolios, units of assessment and exams.

  • Work as part of a team and be willing and able to work outside normal office hours as required and be part of an out of hours support rota 

Personal qualities:

  • Desire to develop a career in IT Service Delivery
  • Willingness to learn and take on new challenges

Entry requirements:

  • 3 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject 
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above) 
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship in a similar subject 

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme. 

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
