Position Overview:

Post Title: Fire Surveyor/Inspector
Service Area: Homes and Neighbourhoods (Housing Property Services)
Reports to: Senior Project Manager

Primary Job Function: The Fire Surveyor/Inspector will collaborate on Capital and Cyclical maintenance projects involving housing stock owned by our organization. This role encompasses mechanical and electrical works, along with fire safety initiatives. As a key member of the team, you will contribute to risk management, value engineering exercises, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project management of housing refurbishment projects, maintaining clear communication with project team members, managers, contractors, and residents.
  • Conduct Fire Door assessments, inspections, and provide Client Inspection Reports for Senior Management.
  • Develop specifications and schedules of works based on fire risk assessment programs.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, close off actions from risk assessments, and manage compartmentation inspections.
  • Manage in-house and external contractor performance, including quality control and approval of valuations.
  • Provide technical support to various teams on fire improvement works and relevant standards.
  • Review and comment on specifications of work and technical drawings to ensure compliance with building regulations.
  • Respond to resident inquiries, assess requests for alterations or improvements, and provide support to the Fire Safety team.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • NEBOSH Fire Safety Management certificate or equivalent fire safety management/engineering qualification.
  • Fire door inspection certification or a minimum diploma.
  • Passive fire stopping certification or a diploma.
  • Substantial experience in a similar role related to fire-related project management, design, servicing, repair, or installation.
  • Experience working with tenants, leaseholders, and representative groups.

Skills:

  • Creative problem-solving in building design and maintenance-related technical issues.
  • Thorough knowledge of building construction and the ability to write specifications.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with various stakeholders.

Special Requirements:

  • Satisfactory clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service required.
