We’re delighted to be partnering with a leading social housing provider based in Buckinghamshire, who are currently recruiting for Financial Services Manager (Financial Controller) to join the team on a permanent basis.

What's on offer:

The role is 37 hours per week with flexible working and with an excellent hybrid working set up. The annual salary is £66,545.00 per annum

The ideal candidate will be a fully qualified accountant (CIMA or ACCA), with a strong understanding of social housing/property/estate/development

Duties will include (but not limited to):

  • Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance, and overseeing a team of eight; 2 direct and 6 indirect reports across transactions
  • Ensure that the Group’s cash flow management, creditor payments, rent accounting, cash collection, general ledger, and financial systems are accurate, up to date and effectively managed
  • Develop and maintain effective financial controls, processes and systems and ensure that these are in line with statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Responsible for all income and expenditure reporting, and ensuring that the trial balance and balance sheet reconciliations are accurate and up to date
  • Work closely with the Financial Reporting Manager on the preparation of annual statutory accounts and returns to the regulator, funders and other statutory bodies
  • Collaborate with the Treasury Management team: overseeing the preparation of daily and medium-term cash flows, to ensure that the Group has sufficient funds to meet obligations as they fall due, plan effectively for cash drawn downs and surplus cash investments
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of tax compliance returns as the fall due including the preparation of VAT returns under both the partial exemption and standard methods
  • Ensure that the asset register is regularly updated, reconciled to the Nominal ledger and the accounting policies are regularly reviewed, changes agreed and accurately implemented
  • Develop and maintain robust supplier payment procedures and controls and ensure they are adhered to and all suppliers paid promptly

Experience required:

  • Fully qualified Accountant or equivalent
  • Experience in consolidating statutory accounts

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Line management - including training and development

  • 37 hours per week (flexible working)
  • Monday - Friday
  • Hybrid working: 1 day on site per week (every Wednesday)
