Isca Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting for a commercially astute, accountant to join a growing business with a superb culture as the Financial Controller at their office near Totnes, Devon.

This is a highly visible position as part of the senior leadership team, providing financial insight and control to the business. Reporting to the CFO, this is a hands-on Financial Controller role with full responsibility for the finance function including management and development of a small team.

Financial Controller - Duties:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day finance function: purchase and sales ledgers etc.
  • Managing credit control, with responsibility for building relationships to minimise the risk of bad debts.
  • Oversee and monitor stock and general supplier payments and expenses.
  • Full responsibility for payroll, pensions and administration of the company benefit schemes.
  • Income reconciliation and cash flow management, tracking costs monthly against budgets and flagging up trends
  • Providing weekly financial and management information reports for senior management,
  • Reviewing and finalising monthly management accounts, KPI’s, including commentary and variance analysis.
  • Supporting the CFO with the preparation of the board pack.
  • Identifying, implementing and ensuring effective financial controls, processes and systems
  • Business partnering budget holders and management, working with marketing, buying and operational teams.
  • Budget analysis and review, working with management to ensure adherence to budget and company performance.
  • Overseeing year end accounts processes and statutory accounts production
  • Main point of contact with external auditors and managing the annual audit process.

Financial Controller - The Rewards:

Salary: Up to c£50,000pa

Hours:
Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours per week with flexible start/finish times.
Location:
Hybrid, minimum of 3 days per week in the office.

Financial Controller - The Person:

  • This role will suit a proactive, commercially astute accountant seeking a varied role with a fast-paced business, where you will take responsibility for the smooth running of the finance function.
  • You’ll have recent experience of management accounting, cashflow forecasting and financial analysis.
  • Ideally you will be a qualified accountant, (ACCA, CIMA or ACA), although applications from individuals who have the relevant finance experience are also welcome.
  • You will enjoy using your commercial skills - able to see the bigger picture and plan ahead whilst also being hands on to ensure the timely delivery of monthly reports.
  • A natural problem-solver with excellent analytical skills you’ll be able to prioritise and meet deadlines in a complex fast-moving business.
  • You’ll be a first-rate communicator able to inspire, persuade and influence, with the ability to lead and positively manage and empower others to achieve.
  • Strong IT skills with experience of Excel, knowledge of Power BI is highly desirable.
  • You will be a team player and enjoy working in a collaborative manner with colleagues at all levels in the business.
