Financial Controller (No.1 in Finance) | £70,000 + Strong wider package | Preston | Entrepreneurial SME | Good long term prospects

Axon Moore is exclusively partnering with a rapidly growing SME in Preston to find them a No.1 in finance who can support the MD and go on a long term journey with them as they build out the business.

This business has an exceptional staff base that is long serving and united around a common set of goals and values. They’re a business that puts its employees first and are proud of the environment they’ve carefully curated over the past few years.

Commercially the business is very strong. It is profitable with year on year growth, and they’ve began investing into new parts of the market which is already making returns. They’re also investing into existing infrastructure to create room for expansion over the next 5  years.

With this in mind, they’re looking for a strong Financial Controller who can:

-        Take responsibility for the financial running of the business (group consolidation, divisional management accounts, year end statutory work and audit)
-        Bring leadership to the existing finance team
-        Mitigate risk as they explore new business avenues
-        Business partner with operations and a variety of different stakeholders
-        Develop reporting and new management information to better inform the MD with commercial decisions
-        Progress long term with the business becoming their FD further down the line

The MD is passionate and hands on within the business. They have strong external relationships with advisors and hold the strategic reigns within the organisation which is why they do not immediately need an FD. But in time, they will need more support in this area and a gradual handover in the future.
