Our valued client, a leading organisation in the charity sector, is currently seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join their innovative and forward-thinking team on a full-time, permanent basis.

In your role as the Financial Controller, your responsibilities will include overseeing financial reporting, promoting collaboration across departments, and implementing system improvements to support the organisation's financial health and compliance.

The responsibilities:

• Manage budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial procedures for organisation operations.
• Deliver accurate and current financial information to support effective decision-making for the Senior Management Team.
• Maintain positive cash flow management.
• Ensure the organisation meets its financial compliance obligations and maintains strong financial controls.
• Manage annual accounts preparation, audit facilitation, and submission, including external auditor relations and financial compliance.
• Develop and oversee the accounting software, systems, and procedures for optimal functionality, while ensuring robust financial controls and overseeing project fund management.
• Manage all aspects of payroll operations, including software, processing, HMRC liaison, pensions, staff support, and system reviews.
• Manage all aspects of taxation including VAT returns, HMRC liaison, Gift Aid claims, Corporation Tax returns, and ad hoc tax matters.

The candidate:

• Qualification such as AAT Level 4, ACCA, CIMA, or a relevant degree.
• Demonstrated experience in a comparable role.
• Expertise in financial accounting software.
• Proficiency in payroll processing and administration.
• Skilled in Microsoft Office applications: Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Proficient in financial reporting, charity accounting, budgeting, management accounts, cash flow management, and VAT return preparation.
