Alexander Daniels are working in partnership with a fast paced, growing and exciting property business based in central Birmingham to recruit an experienced Finance Manager to the team. Following a huge period of growth over the past few years, the business are looking for a strong Finance Manager to come on board and help to shape the reporting and business information required by the board to drive the financials and future developments and investments of the business. Experience of property/ real estate is essential.

Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to lead the day-to-day finance function and support the CFO by taking responsibility for financial reporting. Reports to the CFO on all financial and accounting activities. Overseeing financial department staff in day-to-day operations. Additionally, you will support the development and operations of the wider group and actively work to help it achieve its goals and objectives.

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all company accounts and investments
  • Create monthly and annual reports and financial forecasts
  • Implement appropriate KPI's to assist the Board in monitoring business trends
  • Manage cash flow and payments by maintaining a close focus on creditors and debtors
  • Supervise and manage the finance team
  • Provide structured feedback on potential updates and improvements to accounting systems, including payroll and invoicing
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported
  • Establish and implement financial reporting systems to comply with government regulations and legislation
  • Collaborate with auditing services to ensure timely completion and filing of accounts
  • Develop budgets and financial plans for the company based on market intelligence and relevant data sources
  • Review financial expenditure and budgets to identify cost efficiencies
  • Examine financial reports and data to check for discrepancies and promote consistent outputs
  • Oversee existing systems to ensure timely, accurate data collection
  • Report to the CFO with timely and accurate financial information
  • Assist the CFO in presenting reports to senior executives, stakeholders, and board members.

Professional Skills and Experience Required:

  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel, other management and analytical applications, and ideally other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experienced in financial systems and specifically Xero.
  • Experience in the use of the Yardi property platform will be considered a positive.
  • Qualified with a recognised Accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of managing a P&L, balance sheet and cash flow forecasting
  • Hands on experience of building and managing forecasting and budgeting reports
  • Proven experience within a senior Finance position within a Property/Real Estate environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
