Finance Manager


Location: Birkenhead (Hybrid 3 days WFH)


Salary: Up to £40,000


Report to: Finance Director


Purpose
You will be working for a national charitable organisation that help supply legal advise for young children. You will manage all aspects of the charity's transactional ledger and supporting systems, including general, purchase and sales ledgers, and provides business and finance support to the Legal department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Record all financial transactions for departments and contracts accurately and promptly.
  • Manage and develop the accounting personnel team and legal cashier.
  • Provide finance and business support to the legal department, including fee earner financials and annual budgets.
  • Drive continuous improvement in accounting and transactional processes through automation.
  • Manage the month-end timetable.
  • Prepare and post monthly accruals, prepayments, and other accounting entries.
  • Handle sales ledger management, including invoicing, credit control, and aged debtors.
  • Manage purchase ledger, self-employed contractor claims, volunteer expenses, and aged creditors.
  • Process journal entries.
  • Perform general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Oversee legal finance processes, including Legal Aid monies.
  • Co-ordinate the annual audit process and provide financial information to auditors.
  • Produce quarterly VAT returns.
  • Oversee PAYE settlements and returns.
  • Actively participate in budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Manage working capital and cash flow forecasts.
  • Consult closely with the Finance Director on financial matters.


Experience Required

  • Part qualified CIMA or ACCA
  • Line management experience.
  • Experience in all aspects of ledger accounting
  • Proven record in achieving business objectives.
  • Experience in designing and delivering process improvements.
  • Knowledge of best practice in ledger accounting
  • Background working for a Charity or Legal sector.
