Odiham - Part time - Competitive salary - Hands on role - 

The successful candidate will be accountable to the Trustees, combined Trusts for the charity’s financial and operational oversight, as well as the execution of the Trustees’ directives and policies.

Finance and Operations Manager Key Responsibilities:

  • Safeguard the charity’s financial stability and assets through prudent financial management, routine reporting to the Treasurer and the Board, and adherence to all legal and regulatory mandates.
  • Serve as the charity’s chief advocate, ensuring efficient operation across all facets of the charity’s work while upholding its esteemed reputation in the community.
  • Engage with and back the charity’s service providers within and the broader community, in line with the charity’s objectives.
  • Guarantee that the charity’s facilities comply with all regulatory requirements through a systematic program of scheduled maintenance and urgent repairs.
  • Execute the Board’s strategic plan while adhering to the highest standards of corporate governance, with the Trustees’ support and counsel.
  • Aid the Befriending Service Manager, ensuring compliance with all established guidelines and best practice protocols.
  • Advance the activities of the Shops by collaborating with the Head of Retail to achieve excellent operational management and financial goals.

Required Skills:

  • Possession of a recognized accounting qualification (or equivalent experience) is crucial. Experience as a Company Secretary is favorable.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements (HMRC, VAT, Gift Aid, Corporation Tax, Charity Commission, Companies House, etc.).
  • Proficiency in various software applications (SAGE, BASIC payroll tools, EPOS, Microsoft, etc.).
  • Outstanding administrative and organizational abilities, capable of independent work, problem-solving initiative, and adaptability.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to:
    • Effectively manage and support direct reports, other staff, and volunteers as needed.
    • Cultivate relationships across a diverse spectrum of organizations, especially within the charity sector.
