Hays Finance are delighted to be working exclusively with a large Non-for-Profit organisation based in the region who are looking to add a Finance Lead to their team to support them through a period of transition.
Your new role
The organisation is embarking on a new long-term strategy which they are looking to deliver on a 3-year finance strategy. The role will focus heavily on all financial aspects of the sustainability programme. This will include, but not be limited to, ensuring that business case financials are robust, reporting on overall programme spending, forecasting on future expenditure, calculating the overall funding request in respect of reserves drawn-down, maintaining the strategic financial model, assessing its compatibility with the organisation's overall funding financial strategy, and any other financial tasks associated with the programme

Main Duties include;

  • To ensure the core strategic financial model is kept up to date and reflects changes in the timing of the various activities
  • To provide updates on the progress of the plan to SLT both in its own capacity and when it is acting as the Change Board for the programme, and the finance committee
  • To work with the core finance team to ensure the programme financial data is accurately reflected in management accounts, forecasts and budgets
  • To ensure consistent practice in business cases, recognise the organisations policies, processes and structures.
  • Providing appropriate commercial and business advice and challenges to projects and studies in areas like income generation, new ventures and funding.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience of successfully defining, planning, delivering, monitoring and valuing multiple complex, high-risk, high value and cross-organisational projects concurrently
  • Strong experience of organisations going through considerable business change
  • Deep experience in financial and non-financial reporting in a programme-based environment
  • Adept skills in financial planning, budgeting and forecasting
  • Deep knowledge of tools and techniques used in a project-based environment, such as management reporting, financial modelling, project appraisal, analysis, benefits identification, tracking reporting & scenario planning
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder skills, with proven experience in explaining financial concepts to a non-financial audience
