Harmonic is thrilled to partner with one of London's leading Architecture and Property firms in their search for a dynamic Finance Director. Collaborating closely with the founders and leadership team, you'll have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in driving the company's growth trajectory. With an impressive track record boasting over 90 Architecture awards, this innovative firm specializes in transformative projects within the urban realm, spanning hospitality, workplace design, and leisure.

Built upon a foundation of collaboration and innovation, this forward-thinking organization is poised for growth, with current annual revenue standing at £25 million and a strategic vision for continuous expansion. Embracing a fast-paced and engaging work environment, they are looking for a Finance Director who will make a significant impact and contribute to their ongoing success.

The Role

As Finance Director, you'll be at the helm of financial strategy, collaborating closely with the board and strategic team to shape comprehensive finance reports and drive decision-making processes. This role offers a unique opportunity to spearhead budgeting and forecasting frameworks, manage diverse projects, and oversee the development of a small junior finance team.

In your day-to-day responsibilities, you'll take charge of all aspects of financial management, including reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. From managing cash flow to preparing monthly and quarterly management accounts, conducting variance analysis, and identifying both risks and opportunities, you'll hold overall responsibility for the end-to-end accounting process. This is an exciting role for a seasoned finance professional eager to make a meaningful impact in a thriving and innovative organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee reporting, forecasting, and budgeting
  • Manage end-to-end business accounting processes
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly internal financial accounts and coordinate year-end audit with external auditors
  • Monitor and manage cash flow
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and oversee audits
  • Implement financial strategies and policies to maintain financial health
  • Analyse variances, identify areas for improvement, and facilitate contingency planning
  • Handle project finance, invoicing, and client debtors
  • Manage payroll and regulatory compliance, including expense approvals
  • Negotiate insurances and handle tax reporting, including VAT and Corporation Tax
  • Provide financial guidance to leadership team to achieve business objectives and assist in business planning
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives
  • Manage relationships with external partners, including banks, auditors, insurers, and IT providers
  • Handle tenant property matters, including lease negotiations

What we need to see (required):

  • Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Experienced in Professional Service based SMEs
  • Experience leading a finance function
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders
  • Strong financial planning and modelling experience

What we'd like to see (preferred):

  • Previous experience in an architecture or design business
  • 10+ years in Finance
  • An interest in the architecture space
  • Experience using Access Accounting System

Location: West London (5 days per week in-office)

Salary: £85,000 - £120,000 + benefits

Start Date: Flexible
