My client is a dynamic family owned Manufacturing and Engineering business ideally situated in Rugby, Warwickshire and therefore easily commutable from across Northamptonshire and Leicestershire also.

Due to continued expansion, FRS have been enlisted to assist with the recruitment of a Financial Controller.

This position will work alongside the current finance team and play an integral role in supporting the Board of Directors.

Reporting directly to the Financial Director you will be responsible for all aspects of company accounting and reporting activities.

The Role and Responsibilities will include a variety of tasks including but not limited to:
- Preparation of annual statutory medium company accounts and managing annual audits
- Preparation of quarterly management accounts including monthly analysis and commentary, variance analysis
- Preparation of annual research and development tax claim
- Producing budgets and forecasts
- Maintenance of fixed assets register
- Accounts payable verification function
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- General ledger maintenance including accruals and prepayment
- Providing information required for company insurances
- Completion and submission of Government statistical surveys
- Dealing with Companies House
- Supporting external auditors in the review and completion of the statutory accounts
- Supporting external auditors in completing and submitting UK Corporation Tax returns
- Providing support and cover for other finance staff
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation
- Providing general financial advice to the Board of Directors and shareholders
- Any other ad hoc duties as required.

Skills and Attributes:

• Able to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with staff, directors and stakeholders.
• Good communication, negotiation, interpersonal and influencing skills.
• Analytical, numerically astute with strong demonstrated problem solving abilities.
• Able to manage time effectively, prioritise tasks and achieve set targets.
• Commercial and financial awareness with a full understanding of how failure impacts the production, manufacture and customer order fulfilment.
• Able to work well under pressure and handle emergency and stressful situations.
• Keen attention to detail and accuracy.
Experience and Knowledge with:

• Strong knowledge of using finance IT systems, preferably with SAGE Accounting Software and advanced MS Excel skills.
• A flexible approach with excellent organisation and prioritisation skills with a strong focus on meeting deadlines.
• Experience of VAT and Corporation Tax reporting
• Qualified accountant, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent, and experienced as a company accountant.

A basic salary of between £55,000 to £70,000 + excellent benefits include Private Medical await.
