The Finance Business Partner will be part of a high-quality reporting, planning, and partnering service across Octavia's various operational functions, providing financial decision support, value for money challenge and strong financial awareness to the wider organisation.

Sitting as a senior member of the Financial Planning & Treasury Team, the Finance Business Partner is jointly responsible for the monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidation and reporting of Actuals, Budgets and Forecasts. They will work closely with another Finance Business Partner to provide a comprehensive business partnering service to all budget holders across Octavia.

Each Business Partner is supported by a management accountant. The Finance Business Partner will work with various stakeholders across the organisation and provide valuable insight for review at Executive and Board meetings.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Finance Business Partners provide an excellent business partnering service to all areas of core service provision for General Needs Housing & Care and Support, in addition to development, retail and back-office services.  Providing on-going financial performance measurement and reporting of their activities in line with agreed parameters and the organisation's value for money initiatives
  • Provide comprehensive financial information and reporting for all activities, working closely client groups to ensure costs are accurately monitored, challenging client groups to deliver an efficient, cost-effective and value for money service
  • Manage Octavia's budget and forecast process, ensuring value for money principals are instilled throughout the organisation and building a rolling forecast approach to the business
  • Support client groups with financial decision making, providing insightful and intelligent analysis on the key drivers impacting business performance and suggesting solutions to drive improvements in financial performance
  • Support client groups through the budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring targets are realist, in line with long term business plans and considering VFM throughout
  • Ensure income and expenditure is accurately represented, and project budgets/forecasts are closely monitored alongside client groups
  • Advise and support all members of the team and the wider organisation in resolving their finance queries and issues, ensuring that their expectations are managed and proactive resolutions are identified
  • Maintain a strong and operationally suitable set of financial controls and instil a culture of compliance and control as part of the wider Finance team
  • Provide a user-friendly, customer-focused and reliable service at all times, consistently demonstrating a positive, ‘can-do' attitude
  • Fully embrace a culture of collaborative working and continuous improvement, taking responsibility for ensuring quality of work is of an expected standard
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the Finance team to achieve the overall aims of the directorate, ensuring workloads are covered and skills shared

Requirements

Experience

  •  Minimum 2 years PQE
  • Housing sector experience or a strong ability to adapt to a complex and regulated sector at pace
  • Proven experience of running a high-quality finance partnering function

Knowledge

  •  Strong analytical skills with ability to add value and deliver high quality reporting (Essential)
  • Experience of leading a successful budgeting and forecasting process (Essential)
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (Essential)
  • Housing sector experience (Desirable)
  • Understanding of development investment appraisal techniques (Desirable)
  • Brixx modelling (Desirable)

Qualifications / Skills

  •  Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA / CIPFA)

The salary for this role is £59,000per annum with up to 10% pension contribution.
