Role: Finance Business Analyst

Duration: 6 Months

Location: London

Hybrid 2-3 days in the office

Job Purpose:

  • This role will require working closely with the various departments within Finance in a varied capacity covering project management, project administration, business analysis, and business as usual.
  • The role is also there to help increase capacity for the team in managing wider business transformational projects and will typically be involved in various capacities as project resource, business analyst and / or testing resource.
  • Ensure the Bank continues to fulfil reporting obligations across EMEA in an efficient, accurate and timely manner including the investigation and resolution of production issues.
  • Provide technical accounting input, data analysis, solution prototyping / delivery and change testing for on-going Finance and Bank wide operational and strategic projects.
  • Support new product testing from a Finance perspective ensuring end user testing is performed accurately, is well documented and is performed to time including required provisions for regression testing.
  • Ensure new reporting solutions and processes are appropriately documented and approved; ensure stakeholders are clear on roles and responsibilities within the ToM and that business documentation is finalised and transferred to suitable business BAU owners on close down of the deliverable.
  • Time permitting, demonstrate proactivity in seizing opportunities to enhance efficiency of the Department and so welcome a true team player willing to proactively deliver value and support others within the team where capacity and timelines permit.

Background:

  • Support and shape delivery of reporting capability and project management across EMEA with a focus on delivering financial, tax, regulatory, product control and management accounting reporting solutions.
  • Support the management and delivery of Finance deliverables within wider business transformation projects.
  • The role is seen as a pivotal source of transactional and accounting knowledge to support BAU, strategic and project-based activities across EMEA.
  • Role provides technical bridge between IT developers and the Business, contributing a blend of business and accounting knowledge, and a strong understanding of system data flows, data structures and other analytical skills.
  • Support Finance and the wider Bank in its ad-hoc reporting and analysis needs through training, technical guidance, data analysis and process optimisation / automation / elimination.

Accountabilities:

  • Provide technical accounting interpretation and analysis including financial modelling and reconciliation.
  • Interpret and document business requirements, translating these into clear, actionable deliverables. This includes activities such as gap analysis, data interpretation, determining available solutions and their pros / cons and proposing efficient and effective action to take to meet business reporting objectives.
  • Ensure core deliverables are produced on time and to spec by monitoring development progress, providing guidance and technical oversight and in preparing, executing, and signing off UAT.
  • Support line management in accumulation and production of business transformation project documentation and status updates.
  • Deliver innovation and efficiencies across the Bank through business process reengineering (BPR), automation, process/reporting simplification and proactive identification of opportunities to enhance reporting capabilities.
  • Ensure Bank Policy relating to the preparation of External or Material reporting is adhered to by monitoring planned developments and reviewing sign-off documentation as part of the change management process.
  • Manage and lead key user forum and developer progress meetings, preparing and issuing relevant meeting materials to participants.
  • Prepare and / or perform and / or review user acceptance testing scripts to appraise system change as required within the change timelines communicated.
  • Manage expectation through effective and timely communication both within the team and to the stakeholders which we serve.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Qualified accountant familiar with IFRS reporting standards: knowledge of other GAAPs utilised in the region (French, German, Japanese) would be advantageous but not required.
  • Relevant technical degree-level education with a preference toward accounting and financial disciplines.
  • Being qualified / part qualified accountant is advantageous.
  • Experience in Finance transformation/ change programmes in Commercial and Investment Banking is highly desirable.
  • Experience in conducting workshops with junior through to senior stakeholders to gather business requirements.
  • Extensive experience leading and working on data-related projects: Project Management qualifications would be advantageous.
  • Strong numerical and financial skills with the ability to interpret financial information and to design and use financial models.
  • Prior experience performing Finance-based UAT for new products onboarding process highly desirable.
