Swift Placements are working with a brand-new client based in Sheffield, who are a leading provider in construction, design and fit out solutions.

Our client is seeking an experienced Finance Assistant to join their dynamic team and contribute to their continued success.

As the Finance Assistant you will play a vital role in supporting the finance department. You will be responsible for managing financial transactions, preparing invoices, monitoring project budgets, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations specific to the construction and design industry. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and a proactive approach to financial management.

The package:

Full Time Permanent position

Monday to Friday

Hours of work: 8:45 am- 5:15pm, 30-minute lunch break

20 days holidays plus Bank Holidays

Location: Sheffield

Salary on offer: £25,000- £26,000 Dependent on experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • The finance assistant will process and monitor project-related financial transactions, including client billing, supplier invoices, and subcontractor payments.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and issue accurate and timely invoices in line with project objectives.
  • Prepare and issue invoices, purchase orders, and expense reimbursements.
  • Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions.
  • The finance assistant will assist in month-end and year-end financial close activities, including reconciliations and accruals.
  • Assist in payroll processing and related tasks.
  • Respond to financial inquiries from employees, vendors, and clients.
  • Support the finance team in ad-hoc financial tasks and projects as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Finance Assistant or similar role
  • Familiarity with project accounting principles and cost control procedures.
  • Proficiency in financial software and MS Office, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Sage 50 knowledge is desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data accurately.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
