We are looking to recruit a Finance Assistant on behalf of our client who are a specialist school near to Wokingham. This is a permanent role working 25 hours a week TERM TIME ONLY plus an additional 5 days to start in September 2024.

In the role of Finance Assistant, you will be responsible for handling daily financial queries such as payments, processing invoices and ad hoc queries, as well as assisting the School Business Manager with various tasks and queries.

Responsibilities:

  • Processing of invoices.
  • Dealing with supplier queries and statement reconciliation.
  • Working with financial and confidential data daily.
  • Assisting in creating/implementing new operating procedures.
  • Assisting with Payment runs
  • Covering cashbook reconciliations, postings bank transactions to appropriate nominals.
  • Payment Runs and dealing with queries.
  • Assisting the School Business Manager with daily/weekly/monthly queries and reports.
  • Covering daily cash files.

Skills & Experience:

  • Previous work experience as a Finance Assistant, Finance Officer, or similar role.
  • Experience of working in a school environment is desirable.
  • Working independently and within the team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Packages
  • Working proactively with high level of discretion and confidentiality
  • Knowledge or understanding of safeguarding.
  • Using own initiatives to prioritise workloads.
  • Good knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills at all levels, written and verbal, with colleagues, outside agencies, and children.
