NOW Careers is recruiting on behalf of a leading business in the Pontyclun area who is seeking to recruit a new Trainee Accountant to join its thriving business.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a successful business and gain real insight and exposure into accounts. My client is looking for someone who is happy to muck in and who in return will slowly work their way up the business. Ideally you will be a graduate with some work experience, or will be an early stages studier, either ACCA, ACA or CIMA. The client will also consider exceptional AAT studiers who are keen to progress and develop.

My client is able to offer a salary of £28,000 per annum plus study support for the successful candidate.

Reporting into the FC, the main duties of the role will include -

  • Matching, batching & coding of invoices
  • Posting journals & nominal entries
  • Reconcile accounts
  • Complete weekly/monthly bank reconciliations and liaise with bank
  • Record and release monthly prepayments with reconciliation
  • Set up and send daily BACS payments to suppliers
  • Assist with month end preparation/completion
  • Reconciliation of online cash payments received
  • Update & report daily cash flow forecasts
  • Responsible for the company cheque book

The ideal candidate will possess the below skills -

  • Strong Excel skills and the ability to analyse and summarise data through the use of lookups and pivot tables.
  • Good organisational and workload management skills
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral
  • Self-motivated and confident with the ability to work on their own initiative
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Eager to learn, with a can-do attitude and not afraid to get stuck in
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office including Word & Excel
