Macildowie are partnering with an established Midlands business to recruit a skilled Management Accountant/Finance Analyst to join their wider finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing the production of management accounts, p&l, operating plans, and help with the preparation of budgets for your own small portfolio of contracts. This role will involve analysing cost trends and variances, collaborating closely with operational counterparts, and providing valuable insights to enhance profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete timely weekly/monthly management accounts, ensuring thorough checks and agreement with the Finance Business Partner.
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability within the portfolio by analysing trends and collaborating with the operations team.
  • Work closely with operational counterparts to agree on accurate monthly operating plans, highlighting risks and contingencies.
  • Collaborate with operational management on-site to develop annual budgets and forecasts as needed.
  • Conduct weekly/monthly reconciliations for key cost drivers (e.g. vehicle costs, payroll) against the budget.
  • Maintain control over the balance sheet, including monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely invoicing, along with providing necessary customer backing.


Experience & Qualifications:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Proven experience in management accounting and analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and trends.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively in a busy environment.


Additional Information: This is initially for 6mnths on a temporary basis with the possibility of extension based on business needs. They offer hybrid working of a minimum 2 days on site with more at first for training.
