Shift Pattern: Monday – Sunday -
8am – 20:00pm & 20:00pm - 8am
Location: Prees, Shropshire
Requirements: UK driver’s license & own vehicle. Learning disability experience & experience dealing with complex behaviours.

Introduction: The role will be supporting a lady in her twenties with Mild learning disabilities and Prader Willi Syndrome (PWS). The person we support likes doing puzzles, Horse riding, Arts and crafts, Shopping, Cooking, Swimming, and going to the Sauna/Jacuzzi. Due to the lady, we support we can accept Female applicants only.

They are supported on a 3:1 day and 2:1 waking nights staffing ratio, on a 24/7 basis. Due to the client’s communication needs, she requires staff members who can articulate clearly and confidently to avoid any miscommunication.

Key Responsibilities


  • Working with the young person to build routine through a structured daily planner. To include meaningful opportunities for leisure and skill building, to develop greater independence and enrich her quality of life.
  • Engage in activities that the young person enjoys, such as cooking/baking, swimming, jigsaw puzzles, colouring in/crafting and shopping.
  • Supporting the young person to engage in voluntary work, exploring opportunities working with animals such as helping at horse stables or a dog charity/kennels.
  • Ensure the young person is provided with a healthy, balanced diet which limits sweet treats and high calorie items and understand how this can be problematic for the young person due to PWS diagnosis. You need an understanding of Prader Willi Syndrome, and how these impacts on a person’s rapid weight gain. The detrimental consequences to health, emotional state, behavioural responses, and well-being. 
  • Following and practicing guidelines in the Positive Behaviour Support plan, the ability to work consistently within a team and be solution focussed is essential.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise


  • Experience with mild learning disabilities.
  • Knowledge of Prader Willi Syndrome.
  • Be able to Articulate clearly and confidently to avoid any miscommunication. 
  • Female only applications.
  • UK drivers license and own vehicle.
