Job Title:   Family Support Worker

Location:   Longdon Hall School, Near Lichfield

Salary:      £22,000 per annum

Hours:       37.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday, Mon, Tues, Thurs (8:30-4:00), Wed (8:30-4:30), Fri (8:30-3:30)

Contract:   Permanent, Full time

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Family Support Worker to join our close-knit team at Longdon Hall School located Near Lichfield.
 

About the role

  • The role undertakes to provide support when families can be at their most vulnerable.  This requires a variety of social and emotional support skills to assist and support the best outcomes for the family. With a child-centred approach, this role remains focused on the needs of the child at all times, along with providing holistic support for those around them. You will be working directly with families and will be attending contacts both at the school and in the community.
  • To promote good attendance of pupils at school to enable them to learn effectively and to develop socially and emotionally.
  • To provide support for pupils who cannot attend the school site with academic and personal progress and develop plans to work towards a transition back into school. 
  • Ensure the safeguarding of pupils and young people within the school at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To offer emotional and practical support to parents and their families, in their own homes, in the community or during family support evenings at the school.
  • To build a trusting relationship with the parents and young people to help alleviate or break their social isolation and increase capacity.
  • To support pupils in transitioning back into school. 
  • To build up knowledge and understanding of local resources and community and statutory services, including Mental Health Teams, Social Services, Health, CAMHS, Schools, voluntary services and Rights for Pupils, and communicate effectively with them in the best interests of the child and family.
  • To support on Early Help Assessments and implementation of its plans within the school.
