Make a difference for children as a Family Support Worker

WillisPalmer is seeking experienced Family Support Workers to work with our service helping parents develop their parenting skills and children to live safe and happy lives.

Our Family Support Workers work with families who are experiencing challenges parenting their children. You will use your skills and experience to deliver safe baby care guidance to new parents and positive parenting programmes to parents of toddlers to teens.

Above all else, the role of a Family Support Worker is to promote the safety and wellbeing of children at home in their parent’s care. To ensure our we provide the highest standard of safeguarding, WillisPalmer follows the NSPCC Safer Recruitment policy which requires all successful applicants to agree to an Enhanced DBS check and provide a recent professional reference from a position where you have worked directly with children.

This Independent Family Support Worker role will give you fantastic opportunities to work with caring and dedicated child protection professionals, supporting parents to improve their ability to care for their children safely at home. Our service provides Family Support to families whose children are subject to Child in Need or Child Protection plans, or Care Proceedings therefore a sound understanding of safeguarding children principles is essential.

We currently have 12 hour day or night shifts available as well as shorter Family Support sessions across London and surrounding areas.

Person Specification:

Successful applicants will have:

A minimum Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification (or equivalent)

At least 12-months' Family Support Worker experience with parents, children, or young people in their homes and communities

Excellent timekeeping

Ability to type reports using MS Word (or similar) and send by email

Ability to use MS Teams for video sessions

Family Support Workers are required to provide factual, concise session reports about a parent's care of their children and family functioning.

You will work independently as well as a member of a team of Family Support Workers and social workers.

We welcome applications from candidates with skills or experience in the following areas: Family Support, Children's Social Care, Level 3 Health and Social Care, positive parenting facilitator, foster carer, health visitor, social worker.

Additional Information:

Work is assignment based and availability of hours varies from week to week. This is not an employed role - Independent Family Support Workers must be registered as a limited company, or with a UK based umbrella company (we cannot work with sole traders).
