Facilities Technician
  • Annual Salary: £23,000 - £24,900
  • Location: Guildford, Surrey
  • Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

We are seeking a dedicated Facilities Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong facilities knowledge, and excellent organisational skills. This role requires a proactive thinker who can multitask and work effectively under pressure, ensuring the functionality, tidiness, and safety of our facilities.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Complete daily tasks as assigned by the supervisor through various communication channels.
  • Prepare and submit daily reports on assignments and encountered issues.
  • Use tools like Google Calendar and Celcat timetable to manage schedules.
  • Collaborate with technicians to support lectures and events.
  • Assist with the setup of internal and external events in coordination with the Events Coordinator.
  • Conduct regular self-assessments to maintain consistency in performance.
  • Report building repairs to the Facilities Supervisor and participate in weekly team meetings.
  • Remain vigilant to security, health, or abuse issues and report any concerns to Student Services.
  • Provide technical assistance and operate the Help Desk.
  • Perform regular technical maintenance and servicing, especially during holiday periods.
  • Cover shifts for Open Days and other events as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Professional manner with clear written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.
  • Proactive thinking with the ability to propose effective alternatives.
  • Efficient administrative skills for stock control and provision of facilities.
  • IT proficiency and a solid understanding of sound recording and performance equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues quickly in high-pressure environments.
  • Willingness to assist in various situations, including technical, maintenance, and support.
Desired Skills:
  • Full Class B UK driving licence.
  • First Aid, Fire Marshal, and Health & Safety training.
  • Advanced studio and live sound knowledge.
