Job Title: Examinations Officer (Temporary to Permanent)

Location: Ipswich, United Kingdom

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Role Overview: As the Examinations Officer, you will play a crucial role in the smooth running of public examinations within our school. Your responsibilities will encompass administration, organization, and coordination of all aspects related to exams and assessments. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the academic success of our students.

Key Responsibilities:

Timetable Management:

  • Compile and distribute the examination timetable.
  • Prepare seating plans for each examination.
  • Collaborate with the Premises Manager regarding examination venues and seating arrangements.

Candidate Support:

  • Issue individual candidate timetables and information from the Joint Council for Qualifications.
  • Address student queries and resolve timetable clashes.

Materials Handling:

  • Receive and verify accuracy of examination papers and related materials from examination boards.
  • Coordinate the despatch of coursework, oral, and practical examinations.

Examination Supervision:

  • Book, prepare, and organize examinations in compliance with regulations set by examination boards.
  • Ensure candidates are well-organized, and invigilators are in place.

Script Management:
Arrange for the collection and despatch of completed examination scripts to the appropriate examination board after each exam sitting.

Quality Assurance:

  • Manage centre inspections.
  • Oversee the selection and recruitment of invigilators.
  • Induct, train, and supervise the invigilator team, maintaining accurate records of hours worked.
  • Ensure completion of DBS checks.

Communication and Information Dissemination:
Share examination-related information on the school website for all stakeholders.

Special Arrangements:

  • Coordinate special arrangements and considerations before public examinations.
  • Liaise with the SEND Manager to ensure compliance with guidelines from the Joint Council for Qualifications.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience using ARBOR system would be essential as it is the system that the school use
  • Excellent organizational and planning abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with IT systems.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
