Bloomberg News is seeking an enterprising journalist to cover Equity Capital Markets activities for the Europe stocks team. The successful candidate will be a tenacious, well-sourced reporter who is passionate about breaking news, continually developing contacts and writing important, market-moving stories. Our reporters are team players who can tell stories on multiple platforms, whether it's the newswire, the website, Bloomberg's magazines, TV network or the radio and podcast operation.

The ECM reporter will be responsible for covering day-to-day ECM events, generating scoops on stock offerings, block trades and convertible bonds, helming a daily column about ECM news and trends and writing compelling stories about broad market themes. The reporter will be expected to collaborate with other teams and bureaus to cover Europe's sprawling equities market, as it looks to fend off challenges from the US.

We'll trust you to:
  • Break news on secondary offerings, block trades, share placements and convertible bonds
  • Track events in the ECM market, from registration to pricing, debut, and beyond
  • Write compelling stories on emerging trends and provide color on deals and valuations
  • Build sources that bring fresh voices and perspectives to our equities coverage
  • Collaborate with a diverse and talented team of reporters to help decipher stock-market activity for investors
  • Write longer enterprise stories examining big picture ECM issues for weekend features, Businessweek and Markets magazine pieces, QuickTake and other Bloomberg platforms

You'll need to have:
  • 4+ years of financial journalism experience
  • An extensive knowledge of equity capital market machinations: how deals get done and who are the key players involved
  • The proven ability to cultivate sources and generate scoops
  • Strong writing ability with a knack for explaining complex ideas in clear, engaging prose
  • Natural collaborative skills
  • The creativity to spot stories where others may not see them
  • A desire to keep learning and build your expertise - the limits and borders of this beat are your imagination
