Estimator

Location: Office based in Market Harborough LE16 7PS and travel within the UK as required.
Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 per annum, DOE
Contract: Full-time, permanent

Our core skills and services include providing high-quality commercial fit-out solutions, covering diverse disciplines such as drywall, ceilings, flooring, electrical and lighting installations, plumbing, heating, and ventilation across various sectors including education, and retail.

As we continue to grow, we are excited to expand our team and invite an Estimator to join us.

Estimator - The Role

We're seeking an experienced Estimator with 3 years in commercial fit-out, if you have multidisciplinary knowledge and experience in government tenders for education, schools, and hospitals, we want to hear from you!

In this role, you'll work closely with our head of design and sales department to develop accurate estimates and budget evaluations for both prospective and won projects.

1. Collaboration and Assessment:

- Collaborate with the sales and project management teams to assess client requirements.
- Conduct thorough site assessments when required and liaise with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Work with the design department to create a scope of work for projects.

2. Project Estimation:

- Develop accurate and detailed project estimates for commercial fit-out projects utilising software and tools available (Material and quantity take-offs from drawings and ability to use quick bid software or similar)
- Utilize your multidisciplinary knowledge for precise cost analyses.

3. Government Tender Experience:

- Bring some experience in dealing with government tenders, specifically in education, schools, and hospitals.

4. Cost Control:

- Implement effective cost-control measures to ensure projects align with budgetary constraints.
- Analyse project costs and recommend cost-saving measures without compromising quality.

5. Reporting:

- Generate comprehensive and clear reports detailing project estimates, costs, and potential savings.
- Communicate regularly with the project management team to provide updates on cost-related aspects.

6. Bid Proposal Preparation:

- Prepare and present comprehensive and competitive bid proposals to clients.
- Ensure proposals align with client expectations, budgetary constraints, and company profitability goals.

7. Hands-On Tool Experience:

Some hands-on tool experience is preferred, providing practical insights into project requirements.

Estimator - What we need from you

Essential;

- 3 years of experience in commercial fit-out estimation.
- Multidisciplinary knowledge in drywall, ceilings, flooring, electric installations, plumbing, heating, and ventilation.
- Knowledge in Carpentry and drylining as a mammal requirement; appreciate additional knowledge on ceilings, flooring, electric installations, plumbing, heating and ventilation.
- Experience in dealing with government tenders, specifically in education, schools, and hospitals.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a keen eye for accuracy.

Desirable;

- RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) Membership or Accreditation: Essential for credibility and professionalism in the field.
- CIOB (Chartered Institute of Building) Membership: Provides comprehensive knowledge of construction management principles.
- LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accreditation: Demonstrates commitment to sustainability practices, increasingly valued in modern construction projects.

The right candidate for this role would ideally have several years of experience supporting a senior estimator, demonstrating the ability to handle increasing responsibilities.
