Are you passionate about environmental sustainability and ready to make a positive impact? Our client, a well-established organisation, is seeking an experienced and motivated Environmental & Sustainability Manager to join their team in Middlesbrough.

As the Environmental & Sustainability Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our client operates in accordance with environmental guidelines and targets. You will have the opportunity to review the entire operation, identify areas for improvement, and implement effective strategies to promote sustainable development.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement an environmental management system to continually improve the organisation's impact on the environment.
  • Coordinate all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation, and renewable energy.
  • Take the lead on sustainable procurement for all goods and services.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and stay up-to-date with regulations.
  • Audit, analyse, and report environmental performance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Undertake immediate investigations in the event of an environmental spill, producing detailed reports and implementing preventive measures.
  • Promote and raise awareness of emerging environmental issues within the organisation.
  • Train staff at all levels on environmental responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with relevant bodies and negotiate environmental service agreements.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Diploma in Environmental Management.
  • Extensive knowledge of ISO 14001.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Membership of IEMA.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Genuine interest in and understanding of environmental issues and renewable energy sources.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire others.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to compile accurate statistical reports.
  • Good organisation, time management, and commercial awareness.
  • Comfortable with travel as required.
