**37 Hours a week**

approximately 50% of time would be inspections, the remaining time would be taken up writing up inspection forms / reports.

We operate a mandatory FHRS scheme here in Wales and every business has to receive a detailed, written report within 14 days (10 working days) of their visit.

-An Environmental Health Officer is required to carry out combined food hygiene and standards inspections.

-Must be registered with the Environmental Health Registration Board Must be competent in both food hygiene and food standards inspections with relevant experience in both.

-To assume a specialist role as an Environmental Health Officer within the Council’s Food Safety and Standards Team, contributing to the delivery of the food safety and standards functions, efficiently and effectively discharging these responsibilities, in line with applicable legislation, guidance, policies and practice, to ensure that relevant aims and objectives are met.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

1. Undertake proactive food safety and standards inspections, in accordance with agreed priorities and programmes of work, with published Codes of Practice and Practice Guidance, and established policies and procedures.

2. Undertake inspections of 'approved’ premises, pursuant to the approval process and thereafter to ensure that applicable conditions are met.

3. Take food samples for microbiological examination or analysis, as required, as part of planned sampling programmes and on a targeted basis in support of investigations, adhering to processes set out in published Codes of Practice and Practice Guidance, and established policies and procedures, to ensure that samples are correctly obtained, handled and submitted for investigation.

4. Take timely and appropriate action where sample results are returned, in accordance with published Codes of Practice and Practice Guidance, and established policies and procedures, in particular to ensure prompt action where results indicate a lack of compliance/conformity.

5. Prioritise and respond to service requests, including complaints about food and food premises, and food-related incidents, in accordance with published Codes of Practice and Practice Guidance, and established policies and procedures.
