Your new role

As an Engineering Team Leader, you will play a critical role in the delivery of both planned and reactive works across a diverse portfolio of public and operational buildings in Plymouth. You will directly manage the council's engineering service and subsequent team, comprising technical staff with a range of expertise and experience. In addition, you will hold the 'competent person' function for the council, for M&E related health & safety management.

  • Day to day line management of the engineering team to ensure the team meets service targets, in particular with respect to health and safety and statutory compliance.
  • Supervise the delivery of surveys for condition on M&E plant and equipment.
  • Ensure that maintenance is carried out to new installations which have been designed to deliver energy and carbon saving.
  • Support with the development of annual planned maintenance and carbon management programmes by evaluating condition and performance data.

What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this position, you will need to have a good understanding and grounding within mechanical engineering within a building services, facilities, or property maintenance environment. In order to demonstrate your capability in this area, you will need to hold at least a HNC or degree level qualification in a relevant engineering discipline. In addition, it would be beneficial if you were working towards, or held a membership of CIBSE, IMECH or IEEE.
