Engineering Manager

Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be exclusively recruiting for a fast growing highly regulated manufacturer based in Sheffield, who are looking for a technically able and experienced people manager to join the business as Engineering Manager.

This is a great opportunity for someone to join a fast paced manufacturing business and really make an impact from a people management, process and NPI point of view.

As the Engineering Manager you will:

• Management of the NPI and Tooling teams within the business
• Commercial and technical review of all enquiries
• Complete the hand-over to production after delivering a proven robust manufacturing process where appropriate for NPI projects
• Convert customer drawings to casting, forging, or machining process drawings where necessary
• Create, maintain and complete NPI folder for all relevant new parts
• Manage NPI team, developing their skill sets and encouraging succession
• Ensure all new parts where appropriate are validated in accordance with the validation protocol or customer specification
• Ensure process flow, risk analysis and procedural documentation are in place and up-to-date for all relevant projects
• Ensure project cost and resource usage is captured and documented on cost roll ups
• Ensure that tooling and fixtures are designed to ensure new product meets drawing requirements
• Involvement where required with the contract review process on all purchase orders under projects being managed
• Manage projects, draft and issue project plans, hold regular team meetings, assign tasks and dates and follow up regularly to ensure these are progressing to plan
• Participate in the process FMEA sessions with the relevant teams where appropriate
• Promote and support cost savings and continuous improvement activities
• Promote teamwork across two manufacturing sites ensuring that there is a clear understanding of responsibilities and direction
• Provide guidance and support to ensure company compliance with Quality Assurance requirements and systems
• Provide technical support for manufacturing, quality and sales
• Deliver projects to agreed timescales

To be considered for the Engineering manager role you will need:

• Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline or a recognised engineering apprenticeship (preferred)
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in NPI Project Management
• Minimum 5 years’ experience of people management
• Strong working knowledge of manufacturing, ideally with cast or forge engineering experience
• Experience of working within a highly regulated industry, ie medical, aerospace or automotive
• Green Belt Six Sigma minimum
