Position: Engineer - Weight Management

Location: Crewe (Hybrid working available)

Rate: Up to £35ph (Outside IR35)

Adecco Recruitment are currently seeking a Engineer to join of one of our prestigious automotive clients based in Crewe. Our client is a multi-award-winning business that are growing at a rapid speed.

About Us: Join the forefront of vehicle performance, efficiency, and sustainability with our Weight Management Function. Situated within the Whole Vehicle Physics Department, we're dedicated to crafting automotive vehicles that exceed expectations. From concept to certification, we manage weight to deliver exceptional products.

Responsibilities: As a Weight Management Engineer, you'll tackle diverse challenges and collaborate with various stakeholders. Your key tasks include:

  • Setting and delivering whole vehicle weight targets utilising sound engineering knowledge, lightweight technology trends, BoM weight roll ups and vehicle/part measurement.
  • Managing own project related activities including creating and presenting reports to Senior Management.
  • Planning and managing programmes, leading weight reduction work-streams, working in close cooperation with other functions to ensure achievement of weight targets.
  • Constructively challenging & influencing engineering departments to deliver targets.
  • Calculating Vehicle weight and mass properties (Centre of Gravity and Moment of Inertias) using a variety of methods and data sources.
  • Contributing to the calculation of certification weights for cross functional agreement, based on multiple data sources and relevant legislation
  • Competitor bench-marking (including technologies used) and attribute target setting

Required Skills:

  • Proven ability to build strong relationships across diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in CAD and Bill of Materials systems.
  • Deep understanding of lightweight technologies and trends.
  • MS Office skills, including Macro writing.
  • Familiarity with weight certification requirements for European and global markets.

A Full UK Driving Licence is required for this position.
