Employment/Regulatory Solicitor
  • Contract Type: 12-month Fixed Term
  • Location: Hybrid, Bedford
  • Salary: From £40,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

We are seeking an Employment/Regulatory Solicitor to join our dedicated in-house legal team. This role is pivotal in providing expert legal advice and representation on a variety of employment law, professional discipline/regulatory, clinical negligence, inquests, and related matters. You will be a key legal advisor and advocate for our members, ensuring the highest standard of legal representation and guidance.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide legal advice and representation on employment law, regulatory matters, clinical negligence, and inquests.
  • Manage a mixed caseload of employment work, including advising on disciplinary, grievances, capability, whistleblowing, discrimination, detriment claims, and equal pay.
  • Handle tribunal claims, draft documents, responses, bundles, witness statements, and reports.
  • Manage a caseload of regulatory work, offering advice to healthcare professionals facing various professional challenges.
  • Draft articles and legal updates, and assist team members with their caseloads.
  • Implement and maintain internal best practices for managing employee relations, litigation, and regulatory compliance matters.
  • Act as a trusted in-house advisor, offering comprehensive legal support and advising senior managers on legal issues.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified Solicitor with experience in employment law and/or fitness to practice proceedings.
  • Proven track record in providing legal advice and representation in employment-related disputes or before Tribunals.
  • Strong understanding of HR functions and practices, with the ability to integrate legal and HR strategies effectively.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and commitment to organisational success.
Desirable:
  • Experience working with healthcare professionals including doctors, dentists, and nurses.
  • Knowledge of NHS contracts and Agenda for Change.
  • Clinical negligence and inquest experience.
  • Experience providing in-house legal advice and support.
