Unity Works has an exciting opportunity available for a Employment Advisor – Youth Servicesto join our team in Central London. You will join us on a full-time, Fixed Term contract ending on 31st March 2025In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £28,998.75 per annum.

At Unity Works, our vision is an inclusive world where people with a learning disability who want to work, can work. 

Join us as we start up our pioneering programme funded through UKSPF focusing on empowering young individuals with a learning disability who are currently, or at risk of, becoming NEET to find their future pathway. 

This new service aims to offer a holistic, person centred approach to supporting individuals navigate this challenging period in juggling expectations of others and establishing their own identity and goals. We are looking for a team of innovative and empowering individuals who are defiant in their approach to helping young people build their strengths, define their aspirations, and achieve greatness. 

About the Employment Advisor – Youth Services role:

With the disadvantages they experience, younger people with a learning disability/autism can very often be told they are incapable of work. This creates a deep-rooted negative self-belief that risks becoming a self-fulfilling prediction. Working alongside our Health & Wellbeing Coaches, our Employment Advisors will be supporting individuals to address these barriers; equipping and enabling individuals to gain employment and offering personalised support from:

  • Reviewing education, training and/or jobs that would match them best
  • Exploring experience of work through visits, job fairs, taster sessions and placements
  • Supporting with applications, interview and in-work support
  • Empowering a self-belief in working and evidencing an individuals distance travelled on the project

What do you need to become our Employment Advisor – Youth Services?

  • You will operate from a strengths-based approach with young people. Recognizing their talents and enabling them to feel inspired and motivated to engage in a sustainable pathway to employment and achieve a fulfilling career
  • You will be flexible and a good communicator, working with, and supporting people from all different walks of life and backgrounds, so no day will be the same
  • You will have a great ear and understanding of the complexities facing young people with a learning disability navigating their transitions out of education and into employment because you will be completing assessments with individuals
  • Using your approachable and adaptive nature you will develop a strong rapport that allows individuals to seek questions, discover their own qualities and feel empowered to find opportunities that match their skill sets
  • You want to experience the joy of seeing a young person grow and shape their own futures
  • You are self-motivated and will enjoy working as part of a team that works to not only identify challenges facing young people but actively works to overcome them
